Street style has been heavily influenced by rock ‘n roll for quite a few seasons now…you can’t go far without seeing some version of black distressed leather and metal studding. Sometimes, however, it is refreshing to sport the same attitude or feel in a new and unexpected way. The collage above displays a romantic version of the typical “night-on-the-town” get up. Rather than going for va-va-voom or urban-cool, I’ve opted to create a look that injects some femininity and polish to the downtown chic ensemble I would typically wear out on a Friday night. This soft side was inspired by a charming piece of pastel furniture with clean lines yet intricate detailing. Similarly, the structured dress is balanced out with soft draping, leather and suede anchors, and gold hardware accents. In order to harmonize the classic dress form with the trendy crop jacket, I coupled boho bangles with a timeless (excuse the pun!) timepiece; the urban flavored hoops’ shape is echoed in the LV ring that serves to inject a touch of refinement. This look is all about balancing forces in order to create an outfit that is interesting, fashionably cool, and graceful, all at the same time!
