What does everyone think of the romper? It’s been around since the 1900s, mainly as play wear for infants and young children. It was popularized in the 50s for women as beach- and leisurewear and although it never quite disappeared, it became less common until a resurgence in Spring 2009 collections from Marc Jacobs, Mara Hoffman, and Catherine Malandrino among others. I think they’re interesting, fun, and versatile. With so many fabric choices, colours, and styles, the romper easily became a staple in fashionable wardrobes ranging from easy weekend wear to replacing the LBD. Although rompers can be a transitional item in one’s closet and pant suits have appeared on the runways for Fall/Winter, I’ve decided that with the death of summer (dramatic, I know) I am going to pack away my rompers until next year (maybe). As such, here is my black silk romper for one last hurrah.
Have a terrific weekend, everyone!
